Great Co-Op Games to Play with the Squad This Weekend 

It’s the weekend – huzzah! Time for some co-op gameplay with the squad. 

We’ve explored MMORPGs and battle royales, now it’s time to take a look at some fab co-op games to play this weekend. Co-op is a varied game mechanic, as it works across so many different genres. The Overclockers UK team put their heads together to come up with this wicked list of co-op games, covering a juicy selection of tastes, styles, and mechanics. 

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance

Starting with some story-driven, co-op gameplay, we have Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. You, and up to three friends, play as classic characters from the Sword Coast universe, Catti-brie, Wulfgar, Drizzt Do’Urden, and Bruenor Battlehammer. As a strong cross-section of races and classes from the D&D toolset, each character has their own unique, customisable abilities, weapons, and equipment. Just make sure you aren’t all fighting to be the same character! 

Take on legendary monsters, from beholders to frost giants, in dynamic combat as you traverse the Icewind Dales in search of the growing evil plaguing the Forgotten Realms.

With an ever-growing selection of farming sims, it can be hard to find one that sticks out from the crowd. Dinkum does just that, and not because it supports an online co-op mode. This farming sim is inspired by the wild Australian outback, as well as featuring giant wombats and crocodiles. Bonza! 

Even better, you can invite friends to visit your town, to help you build, shop, and enjoy all the fun farming sim features. The way I see it, there are two ways to play this co-op. Either play independently and then show off your amazing town, or go full co-op and play together from the start.

Sometimes, all you really want from your games is to hit big monsters. Monster Hunter Rise lets you do this to a beautiful backdrop with friends. Regular gameplay sees you taking on missions to protect the village of Kamura from rampaging monsters. You use materials scavenged from these fights to develop the armour and weapons for yourself and your animal companions. In fact, there is a range of weapons to craft and skills to master. 

Thanks to the Hunter Hub, you can take your mad skillz and show them off to your friends. Up to four players can take on target monsters together. Explore the rich and detailed maps, hunting down the big bad creatures inspired by Japanese folklore. The best thing about this feature is these Hunter Hub battles scale in difficulty. Whether you’re a team of two or four, these battles will always be enjoyably challenging.
